Though Windows 7 Beta was very stable for primary use, many users hesitated to install it. But with Windows 7 RC, you can now install Windows 7 on your primary machines including Netbooks. Installing Windows 7 on a Netbook isn’t as easy as installing on Laptops or desktops that come with in-built DVD drive. This is the Acer C710 Chromebook aka 1st generation Acer C7 running Windows 7 64bit natively. This is a clean install of Windows running a custom BIOS ROM known as Coreboot with a SeaBios payload.
How It Works Acer's eRecovery system works from a hidden partition on your hard drive, separate from your regular Windows operating system partition. It holds the eRecovery software and the data for any backups you created using the eRecovery tool within your normal Windows environment.
Storing the software and any backups on this separate partition isolates the data from any problems that could befall your regular operating system. It preserves the data even if you lose the ability to access your regular Windows partition. Restore Options When you buy an Acer, its eRecovery partition comes with the data necessary to restore the hard drive to the state it was in when it left the factory. To restore your computer to a previous state, you will have had to have either created a backup with the eRecovery software from within your regular Windows environment or created a backup CD or DVD with the Windows 7 backup utility. If you did not create such a backup, your only restore option will be to completely delete the contents of the hard drive and start with a fresh Windows installation with all the software the computer had when it left the factory. During the Recovery Process If your computer turns off during the recovery process, it could create a number of potentially serious problems.
Your computer will be unable to boot regularly and you risk of damaging data on the eRecovery partition. Ensure that this does not happen by plugging in your charger before you start the recovery, and keeping it plugged in throughout the entire recovery process. Once you start the recovery process, do not try to quit the eRecovery utility or forcibly turn off the computer.
